Recent NewsBritish Ambassador Honors Pups for Peace with Reception Ramat Gan, Israel British Ambassador to Israel Sherard Cowper-Coles opened an evening reception at his Residence this evening requesting that all visitors observe a moment of silence for the most recent victims of terror in this afternoon's bus attack in central Israel. He then congratulated visiting Pups for Peace organizers and Israeli friends for their efforts to quiet the deteriorating security and diplomatic process by calling upon our ancient friends, dogs, to help to stop the loss of human life and violence in the region. "Our hearts have been broken too many times since the peace process collapsed," said Pups for Peace co-founder, Glenn Yago. "We have reached out to dogs to help save us from those who rob us of our hopes and dreams for which so many in Israel and the region have long toiled, prayed, and perished. Many in the U.S., Israeli, and now British security community have responded generously to assist this unique effort to massively deploy detection dogs and handlers to protect civilians." Attendees of the evening event included U.S. Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer, Mayor Miriam Feirberg of Netanya, Mayor Benny Kiriati of Tiberias, Lord and Lady Samuel, former Chief Scientist Orna Berry, and an assortment of Israeli business, academic, and cultural notables supporting Pups for Peace. "Only an unambiguous end of terror and fear can enable all parties to once againn get about the work of healing the region," Ambassador Cowper-Coles stated. Mayor Feirberg asked for dogs to be deployed in her city, which has been a frequent target of terrorist attack, including last Passover's Park Hotel massacre which inspired the Pups for Peace effort to use dogs to detect terror and save lives. |
