Jewish Learning From Pups for Peace

Supporting Pups for Peace allows us to participate in many mitzvot and sustain many Jewish values at the same time. Here is a list of some of them, with a suggested text that can be studied further.

Ts'ar Ba'alei Chayim
Proper treatment of animals

"The avoidance of suffering of animals is a Biblical law, and the Biblical law supersedes the interdict of the Rabbis." Shabbat 128b

Kevod Habriyot
The dignity of all Creatures

"Great is human dignity, since it overrides a negative precept of the Torah." Berachot 19b

Lo Ta'amod al Dam Re'echa
Do not stand idly by the blood of your neighbor

"...from where do we know that if we see someone drowning or threatened by brigands... that we must save him? The Torah says, (Lev. 19:16) Do not stand idly by your neighbor's blood." Sifra Ked. 4

Hakarat Hatovk
Gratitude for the sacrifices animals (and dogs in particular) make for humans

The duty to save a life
